The Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors are reportedly planning to pursue Trey Murphy III as a top trade target again this summer, per Evan Sidery.
Both teams had inquired multiple times before the trade deadline but did not reach a deal.
Sources indicate the New Orleans Pelicans remain hesitant to move Murphy without receiving an offer loaded with draft capital and high-end prospects. The Pelicans are looking for a return that reflects Murphy’s strong performance this season.
Murphy has been a standout for New Orleans, playing in 52 games and averaging 22.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. He is shooting 47.6% from the field and 37.8% from three, making him one of the most efficient scorers on the team.
Despite his individual success, the Pelicans are struggling in the Western Conference, currently sitting 14th with a 15-41 record.
