**Manchester United legend Roy Keane says he can see certain similarities between Liverpool midfielder Florian Wirtz and Luka Modric.**
The Croatian moved to Tottenham in 2008, but it took him a while to adapt to the physical demands of the Premier League. Keane thinks [**Wirtz**](https://walkon.com/blog/liverpool-news-florian-wirtz-gerrard/) is on the same trajectory, and he believes we will see the best of him during his second campaign at Anfield:
“I still think it’ll take him a full season to get up to speed. I think next year. I remember when Modric and all these boys took their time at Spurs to get used to the physicality, and he ended up playing in a two. I could not see how he (Modric) was going to become a top player.”
Wirtz had a tough start to life in England, but his performances in recent months have given fans confidence that he will end up being a success at Liverpool.

Head coach Arne Slot has confirmed that Wirtz has been doing extra work in the gym. He needed to add muscle and improve his stamina to match the physicality of the Premier League. It is not just about the intensity of the games but the fact that players are asked to play every 3/4 days. The Bundesliga only has 18 teams, which means there is time for a winter break. There are no such luxuries in English football.
