**Arne Slot “will be gone” at Liverpool if he fails to take them back into the Champions League this season, former Everton CEO Keith Wyness has claimed.**
The 47-year-old enjoyed some welcome respite on Wednesday night, with his Reds side battling to an impressive 1-0 win away to Sunderland.
Slot never feels too far away from being under huge pressure, though, and he will know that finishing in the top four in the Premier League this season is essential, as well as going as far as possible in the Champions League and FA Cup.

_“I do think he will be gone if they don’t qualify for the Champions League. I think there will be definitely a move and that will be very clearly what he’s got. Now, what he’s got in his favour, of course, is probably fifth place is going to get you in the Champions League this year, so he’s got an easier chance than ever before. But I do think that is the measure._
_“I think Fenway Sports will be very clear on that, and I’m sure that they’re already going through all the different potential replacements just in case, as every good club should do. But I think that is the measure, and I think they’ve got to get it.”_

Liverpool fans remain split over Slot’s future, with some feeling the damage has already been done, regardless of the odd good win here and there.
To others, though, the Reds should show more patience towards a man who inspired his team to the Premier League title last season.
Either way, huge improvements are needed between now and the end of the season, in terms of consistency in Liverpool’s results, or a change may be required earlier than May.
