One of the greatest point guards in NBA history is calling it a career. NBA legend Chris Paul is retiring from basketball, he announced on Friday.
The 40-year-old shared the news on Instagram after being released by the Toronto Raptors earlier in the day.
“This is it!” Chris Paul [said](https://www.instagram.com/p/DUtPyqHiaxe/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==) in a statement. “After over 21 years I’m stepping away from basketball.”
Paul played for the Hornets, Clippers, Rockets, Thunder, Suns, Warrios, Spurs and Raptors during his illustrious career.
He made the NBA All-Star game 12 times and earned All-NBA honors 11 times, including four first-team selections.
