Christian Barmore opted to take no accountability for the Patriots' loss

New England Patriots star Christian Barmore was heard seemingly telling teammate Milton Williams that their Super Bowl loss was not the fault of those two players, suggesting they had done all they could.

Both Barmore and Williams had a big part in the Patriots' success during the 2025 season, being two of the better defensive tackles in the league this past year. New England had one of the best-ranked rushing defenses, while both Barmore and Williams had racked up pressures throughout the season.

But in the Super Bowl, they were not able to limit Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker, who had 135 yards and won the games MVP award - with his father watching him play for the first time in his NFL career.

It had been a brutal night for the Patriots, who were dominated in all facets of the game on the biggest stage. And while not too many fans had expected to see them there, it had been a huge opportunity to put their own names in history in the post Tom Brady era.

While being clearly devastated with the loss, microphones had picked up Barmore and Williams speaking in words that may not go down too well with fans.

Barmore was heard telling Williams: "It wasn’t us, bro. It wasn’t us, man. It wasn’t us, twin. It wasn’t us, bro. It wasn’t us, twin."

The Patriots defensive tackle appeared to be placing blame on others besides themselves, as one fan wrote: "No wonder they lost. No accountability."

Another commented: "Great team spirit."

Both Barmore and Williams had limited impact on the game, as Seattle had been able to run the ball on offense - being the big difference in the game.

Away from the field, Barmore faces an uncertain future after he was accused of assault and battery on a family or household member.

The Patriots released a statement on Barmore on Dec. 31 which read: "The New England Patriots are aware of reports regarding a pending February arraignment involving Christian Barmore, which stems from an alleged domestic incident that occurred in August.

"The Patriots were made aware at the time of the incident and informed the NFL in a timely manner. The matter remains part of an ongoing legal process. We will respect that process, continue to monitor the situation closely, as we have over the past few months, and cooperate fully with the league. We will have no further comment at this time."

The Patriots will have a tough road to get back to the playoffs next year, having to compete with the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson's teams.
