Knicks roster move sparks reaction from Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Hart

The New York Knicks made a roster move ahead of the NBA All-Star break, picking up a former San Antonio Spurs forward.

By adding the former top 10 pick, Jeremy Sochan, the franchise sparked a reaction from two starters on social media. It was mainly due to Sochan’s comical post, right after he sent a message to the San Antonio Spurs and the fan base.

Karl-Anthony Towns found it funny.

Josh Hart, on the other hand, led with disappointment. Not because he doesn’t want to play with Sochan, but because it appears they are supporters of rival soccer clubs.

“Bro this the worst year to be this dudes teammate,” Hart wrote on X.

“London is red and always will be…” Sochan responded. “Aw hell here we go. I don’t have time for little clubs,” Hart fired back.

The 22-year-old Sochan wraps up a four-year run in the NBA with the San Antonio Spurs. He was selected ninth-overall out of Baylor in 2022, and immediately started 53 games for the Spurs as a rookie. He showed a lot of promise, averaging 11.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.

For the next two years, Sochan showed a lot of consistency. He was a full-time starter as a sophomore, but took on more of a bench role in 2024-2025. This season, the Spurs rolled him out for 28 games. Each outing was as a reserve.

Ahead of the 2026 trade deadline, Sochan was a reported trade target for the Knicks. Although the Spurs and the Knicks didn’t get anything done, it wasn’t long before the Spurs cut ties with their former first-rounder. Now, he’s set to join the Knicks for the remainder of the season, as they work on making a run in the Eastern Conference.
