Cm Punk Reveals Which NFL Player Would Be The Best WWE Wrestler

CM Punk named a former Seattle Seahawks running back as an NFL player who would be the best WWE wrestler.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk recently appeared on the This Is Football podcast with ESPN. During the conversation, host Kevin Clark asked him to name one current or former NFL player who he believes could make the best professional wrestler.

CM Punk noted that former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has what it takes to be a WWE Superstar. He also gave Kevin Clark a quick wrestling history lesson, saying that before the NFL became what it is today, pro wrestling and boxing were more lucrative careers for athletes. He named Wahoo McDaniel and Ernie Ladd as people who have successfully transitioned from football to wrestling.

“More recently, it’s Marshawn Lynch,” CM Punk began. “But here’s a little fun wrestling history for you. Back before the NFL became the NFL, before guys were making these ridiculous contracts and huge money, wrestling was more lucrative. Wrestling and boxing were really the only two sports in America that you could make this extravagant living.

“And guys like Wahoo McDaniel, Ernie Ladd, they played football, right? They left football because they got paid more money to wrestle. Now, obviously, things have changed. It’s a little bit different now. But I gotta highlight those studs, like an Ernie Ladd and a Wahoo. Guys who legitimately did it. They played the hard-nosed tackle NFL football, and they became pro wrestlers. But if I’m just strictly talking about like modern times, I think Marshawn Lynch is probably the best bet because he has that personality,” CM Punk said.
