According to Damichael Cole of The Commercial Appeal, Coward is dealing with right knee soreness and will not participate in Friday night's event. The plan is to have the knee re-evaluated after the All-Star break.
Memphis is taking a careful approach with the 22-year-old forward. Coward already missed the final game before the break with the same issue.
His status for the Feb. 20 matchup against the Utah Jazz remains uncertain as the team waits for further updates.
Coward earned his Rising Stars selection after a strong rookie campaign. He has been one of the bright spots in the Grizzlies rotation, showing scoring ability, rebounding presence, and confidence on both ends of the floor.
So far this season, Coward is averaging 13.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. He is shooting 46.8 percent from the field and 34 percent from three-point range, giving Memphis solid production from the forward spot.
