Reports: Liverpool ready to let star leave - could earn£1.2m per week if he eaves

Liverpool have been blessed by Mohamed Salah’s talents since 2017 but his iconic spell at Anfield may soon come to an end.

In his time on Merseyside, Salah has helped restore the club to its rightful place among Europe’s elite.

With 251 goals and 120 assists, Liverpool have scarcely had a better winger in their history. The likes of Kenny Dalglish would have something to say about this but that’s the conversation he is in.

The 2025-26 season has followed a script no Liverpool fan would have written. Marked by tragedy and frustration, it’s sad to see Salah’s twilight years marred.

Yet at 33, Salah must now decide on his future.

Liverpool could finally sell Mohamed Salah after Christmas bust-up with Arne Slot

When Salah launched an all-out tirade against Slot in December, it left a lasting effect on the perception of the manager.

On Monday, the Daily Mirror reported that Salah could triple his wages if he moved to Saudi Arabia in the summer. He currenly earns around £400,000 per week with Liverpool but could earn over £1.2m with a switch to the Saudi Pro League.

Following that report, French outlet Foot Mercato claims that Salah ‘has opened discussions’ regarding a move to Al-Ittihad. They had a £150m bid rejected for Salah in recent years but have not given up hope of landing his signature.

Now, Football Insider claims that Liverpool are ‘open to letting Mo Salah leave this summer as he will have just one year left on his contract.’

O’Rourke told Football Insider: “This story never goes away, it rears its head in every transfer window, pretty much. We know that Mo Salah is a top target for the Saudi Pro League.

“It was a couple of seasons ago when Al Ittihad made that big £150million offer, which was rejected by Liverpool.

“Look, it’s not been a great season for Mo Salah on and off the pitch. He obviously had that bust-up with Arne Slot, and then obviously his form’s not been anywhere near as good as it was last season, which was going to be hard to replicate.

“He’s back in favour right now, but I think his long-term future is definitely in doubt.

“He’s in the final 18 months of his contract, come the summer he will just have a year left on this lucrative contract and maybe it could be the right time for a parting of the ways for everybody.”
