Liam Rosenior outlines what drove him to become a manager, and describes himself in typical self deprecating manner.
Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has just spoken to TNT Sport ahead of kick off against Hull. TNT pundit Joe Hart asked him why he had wanted to become a coach:
“I’m a weirdo. I’m weirdo,” Rosenior responded jokingly when asked by Joe Hart about his decision to become a manager.
“I always wanted to do it. I’ve worked really, really hard for a long time. When you’re a player you want to be at the very highest level you [Hart] achieved that, I didn’t quite achieve that. But now as a coach I feel really confident and comfortable. The players have been magnificent, it’s a magnificent club and I want to make sure we’re really successful in the short term and the long term.”

We’re still not sure how good a manager Rosenior will turn out to be, but one thing that is already very clear is how good he is at speaking. He knows what fans and players want to hear, and that’s a fantastic quality to have. The emotional intelligence we’ve heard about is evident whenever you see a clip like this.
Compared to some coaches Chelsea have had over the last ten years, the difference is pretty stark. If he becomes as good tactically as he is interpersonally, we could have something special on our hands.
In other news…
Chelsea have a few players out there tonight who will really want a chance to impress. We listed four of them here.
One Rosenior call we’re really not sure about is picking Moises Caicedo for his ELEVENTH start since the turn of the year. It seems an unnecessary risk to us…
