Emile Heskey speaks to Liverpool World about what the summer transfer window could hold
Liverpool icon Emile Heskey believes this season will likely be Mohamed Salah’s last in a red shirt.
There has been ongoing speculation over the Egyptian’s future in recent months, particularly following the bombshell comments he made after he was left on the bench against Leeds United in December.
Salah sent the media into frenzy by claiming his relationship with Arne Slot had collapsed and stating he felt the club had ‘thrown him under the bus’. The winger also sparked speculation that he would not play for Liverpool beyond the Africa Cup of Nations.
However, Salah has since returned to Anfield and has started every match he has been eligible to play in. This hasn’t stopped the rumours suggesting he could leave in the summer, though.

Heskey spoke with Liverpool World about Salah’s current situation and admitted it’s become ‘difficult’ to watch him play this season.
“A lot of fans can't really get their heads around where his struggles have come from and why the sudden drop off from a player who has done numbers others can only dream of,” the former striker said.
“It's difficult to watch him now. The thing is, he's not even getting involved in the games at times. You can see he's struggling trying to get into the game and he's never had that struggle.”
Salah has managed just six goals and seven assists so far this season. Since his arrival in 2017, the Egyptian has finished every single campaign as the club’s top goal-scorer.
His debut season remains his best on record with the Reds — having tallied an astonishing 60 goal contributions — but last term, at 33 years of age, Salah finished just three shy of that figure.
Salah has continued to prove that even as he ages, he remains one of the most threatening forwards in the world. His significant dip this season has left many scratching their heads, including Heskey, who has accepted the club’s third all-time top scorer will likely be leaving this summer.
“For me, yes, end of the season he will probably be re-evaluated and looked at whether this is his final season. It's disappointing but he will forever be a legend for me, and someone who reinvented that winger role. Yeah, probably his last season.”
