Mamadou Sarr sets new Chelsea record no other centre-back has managed this season

Mamadou Sarr didn’t just survive his full Chelsea debut against Hull City tonight; he produced a performance that has officially set a new seasonal benchmark for any Blues defender in 2026.

Chelsea came away from a rainy MKM stadium with a place booked in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup after a 4-0 win over Hull City.

Pedro Neto was superb with his hat-trick, but players like Liam Delap, Mamadou Sarr and Jorrel Hato also deserve special mentions for their displays.

It was probably the best Chelsea have looked defensively all season and the most complete 90-minute display that we have seen under Liam Rosenior.

Is it a coincidence that Chelsea plays this well in what is Mamadou Sarr‘s first game after returning?

Mamadou Sarr completes the highest passing percentage of any Chelsea centre-back this season

Mamadou Sarr only returned from Strasbourg a matter of weeks ago, but he’s already showing exactly why Chelsea recalled him from his loan.

He played the full 90 minutes against Hull City alongside Wesley Fofana at centre-back and the pair looked like they were in complete control.

And Sarr even set a new Chelsea record this season.

Sarr finished the match with a 98% passing accuracy (completing 101 of 103 passes). This is the highest completion rate by any Chelsea center-back in a single match this season (minimum 60 passes).

Mamadou Sarr’s full stats in numbers vs Hull City

According to FotMob, Sarr made 101 of 103 passes, had 118 touches of the ball, created one chance, made one tackle, two blocks, six recoveries, four clearances and three headed clearances, as well as winning four out of seven duels.

The fact that he’s just rocked up on the scene and delivered a performance like that bodes extremely well for Chelsea and Liam Rosenior.

Especially given the struggles Chelsea have faced in defence in recent weeks, whilst having to chop and change Wesley Fofana due to his fitness issues.
