UCLA v. Michigan Preview

The perimeter defense is very good, though, because Cadeau and Burnett, or whoever is playing one of the guard positions, for that matter, can put massive ball pressure on the other team's guards. They know that if they get beat that there are at least two, if not three rim protectors behind them. Michigan's three starters at forward have combined for 129 blocks on the season.

Donovan Dent and Trent Perry of UCLA have a much better chance of getting the better of the Michigan guards than UCLA does with Michigan's inside players. Those chances improve if Skyy Clark is (finally!) able to play on Saturday.

The Michigan bench isn't spectacular, but it doesn't have to be. The Players subbing in for the starters simply need to mind the store, as it were, so that the starters can get a breather now and again.

The top threat is freshman Trey McKenney (6'4", 225 lbs.), mostly because he is an outside shooter. He is also averaging 10.2 PPG. He is hitting 37% from the arc, but he has taken 108 of his 168 shots from the three-point line.

Sophomore LJ Cason (6'2", 195 lbs) handles the back-up point guard duties and does a fine enough job spelling Cadeau. He is also a solid shooter, hitting 48% from the floor overall and 38% from behind the arc. Most importantly, he has almost twice as many assists as turnovers.
