Report: Seahawks hiring longtime Ravens assistant coach

The Seattle Seahawks are hiring longtime Baltimore Ravens assistant coach Daniel Stern to their coaching staff, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Friday morning.

Why Bump is confident Seahawks will nail their OC search

Stern’s exact role and title likely won’t be finalized until the Seahawks complete their offensive coordinator search and solidify the rest of their offensive coaching staff, but Schefter reported that Stern could be tabbed as the team’s pass game strategist.

Stern spent the past 10 seasons on John Harbaugh’s Ravens staff, including the past two seasons as Baltimore’s director of football strategy/assistant quarterbacks coach. Stern and Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald spent seven seasons together on Harbaugh’s staff from 2016-20 and 2022-23.

Harbaugh was fired by the Ravens last month after 18 seasons as their head coach. He has since been hired as the New York Giants’ head coach.

According to ESPN Giants reporter Jordan Raanan, Stern was one of Harbaugh’s “right-hand men” in Baltimore.

According to his bio on the Ravens’ team website, Stern assisted “with the playbook, call sheet, opponent analysis and self-scouting. He also (was) responsible for scripting situational periods of practice and advising head coach John Harbaugh on in-game clock/game management and coaches’ challenges.

“Since 2019, Stern (was) charged with studying game management, situational football and the NFL playing rules/officiating, advising Harbaugh and the team in these areas.”
