Report: Man Utd to rival Arsenal for 17-year-old England wonderkid, conversations already being held

Manchester United’s summer transfer window will be dominated by £100m midfielders, but there will also be young talents considered, such as Igor Tyjon.

All the way back in 2024, Manchester United struck fear into Blackburn with an approach for their teenage sensation Igor Tyjon.

The attacker was considered one of the nation’s best back then, and United were very keen on signing Tyjon, but Blackburn were ultimately unwilling to sanction a sale.

However, he turns 18 this year, and a move in the summer transfer window looks increasingly likely.

If you were Man United’s director of football with £200m to spend in the summer, what would be your dream window?

Manchester United target Igor Tyjon

Back in January, it was reported that United were back in for Tyjon, and now this interest is set to see the Red Devils fight to keep Arsenal from completing the move.

This comes according to TEAMtalk, which claims that although Arsenal are considered to be the favourites for his signature, United are looking to prevent the 17-year-old from heading to London.

However, the report writes, the landscape is now shifting for Tyjon, as United have now held conversations around potentially making a move this summer for the Blackburn talent.

Along with United, Liverpool, Newcastle, and Leeds are all showing interest in Tyjon.

Tyjon will have plenty of options this summer, and while Arsenal leads the chase, it’s a race far from finished.

Where would Tyjon fit in for Manchester United?

If Tyjon wants a successful career, there is no better place than Old Trafford, with the academy once again becoming ingrained within the first-team.

However, if he arrives this summer, it will likely be U21 football that he initially plays in, considering his current level is not Premier League quality.

Tyjon was in the England U17 World Cup squad with Bendito Mantato earlier this season, and has only made three senior appearances for Blackburn.

Therefore, he wouldn’t be arriving wanting to be in the first-team playing right away, but if he’s good enough, United is where he will get the chances.
