The Las Vegas Raiders believe Ashton Jeanty can be a cornerstone of their rebuild. New head coach Klint Kubiak made that clear this week while outlining his vision for the young running back’s future.
Jeanty, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2025 draft, finished his rookie season with 1,321 yards from scrimmage and 10 total touchdowns. He rushed for 975 yards and five scores, adding 55 receptions for 346 yards and five more touchdowns, but his 3.7 yards per carry underscored the inconsistency of a league-worst offense.

Kubiak called Jeanty a special talent and expressed enthusiasm about his skill set during his introductory remarks. The new coach acknowledged the flashes Jeanty showed coming out of Boise State, while also stressing that the next step in his development will depend on the collective growth of the offense.
Las Vegas struggled to generate consistent rushing lanes last season, often playing from behind and abandoning balance. The offensive line’s uneven play, quarterback issues and negative game scripts limited Jeanty’s opportunities to control games the way many expected entering the year.

Kubiak recently shared his thoughts about Jeanty. This can be seen in a video shared by the Raiders’ official X account.

Kubiak’s background suggests a renewed emphasis on structure and cohesion in the run game. He pointed to the need for synchronized blocking, proper run checks at the line of scrimmage and receivers committed to downfield effort, all elements he believes will unlock both Jeanty’s production and a more dangerous play-action attack.
The Raiders have several pieces in place as they attempt to modernize their offense, but Jeanty remains central to the plan. If Kubiak can align the moving parts around him, the numbers could soon match the talent that made Jeanty one of the draft’s most coveted prospects.
