Jules Kounde
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – 01 11 2026: Jules Kounde seen during Spanish Supercup Final game between teams of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid
Liverpool and Chelsea are showing interest in Barcelona’s Jules Koundé ahead of the summer window.
The UK media initially reported Liverpool and Chelsea want to sign him, and Arne Slot’s side are willing to offer €80m.
Chelsea already tried to sign him before he joined Barcelona from Sevilla in July 2022. The Andalusian club had confirmed the Blues offer, but Koundé snubbed them to make a switch to the Camp Nou.
The claims made in the UK of Liverpool and Chelsea wanting the 27-year-old have reached the Spanish press, specifically Catalan newspaper Sport.
Liverpool and Chelsea want him
Their title reads: ‘Barca anticipate trouble with Koundé: Liverpool and Chelsea want to sign him.’
Within the report, the Catalan newspaper provide their own updates on Barcelona’s stance on Koundé.
The France international has been a regular for the Catalan club over the years. Although his preferred position is in the heart of the defence, Hansi Flick has utilised him as a right-back.
Barca know his performances and versatility make him a ‘highly valued asset’. There’s also expectation of movements after this season as top European clubs have asked about the player.

The UK media claim of Liverpool and Chelsea’s interest, with both the Reds and Liam Rosenior’s side [fresh attempt] aiming to make approaches.
Sport state the Blaugrana ‘anticipate noise surrounding the player’, but there’s calmness at the Camp Nou.
Last August, he signed an extension until 2030, and it includes a €1 bn release clause, and this puts Barca in a comfortable position. In short, Flick’s side no intention to sell.
Last summer, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that the Frenchman turned down a Manchester City approach. He still has no plans to leave Barca as he feels comfortable at the club.
Sport add ‘what his entourage might think is another matter’, suggesting his camp can push for a transfer. If that’s the case, it would give Liverpool and Chelsea hope to try and sign Koundé.
Barcelona, for their part, have no plans to part ways with the former Sevilla man.
