'Really good': Alan Shearer says one Chelsea player went under the radar vs Hull

Alan Shearer has identified a quiet hero from Chelsea’s 4-0 demolition of Hull City. While other stars took the spotlight, one ‘solid’ performer caught his eye.

Chelsea continue to improve under Liam Rosenior, recording the first clean sheet since the 21st of January against Pafos.

It was one of the most assured defensive performances that we’ve seen. Mamadou Sarr and Wesley Fofana looked accomplished at the heart of the defence, putting all the doubts to bed after the chopping and changing that has gone on in recent weeks.

A rotation of Fofana, Sarr and Trevoh Chalobah seems the best choice right now.

But there is also a decision to be made at left-back.

Alan Shearer hails Jorrel Hato in Chelsea win

Alan Shearer wasn’t so sure about what he saw from Alejandro Garnacho, but Jorrel Hato was highly rated on the night.

Speaking on BBC One live coverage, Shearer agreed with his fellow commentator on Hato’s display.

The commentator said, “He’s had a really good game.”

Shearer responded:

“Yeah he has, he’s looked solid. Put in really, really good tackle a second ago.”

Jorrel Hato’s stats against Hull City

Jorrel Hato delivered a composed performance that will have opened the eyes of Liam Rosenior.

Starting at left-back, the 19-year-old was a constant outlet for Chelsea’s possession-heavy game, as well as keeping things tight defensively.

He recorded 84 touches and completed 61 of 67 passes for a high 91% accuracy. Defensively, Hato was disciplined throughout the 90 minutes, winning four out of his six duels, making two interceptions, and tallying five ball recoveries.

He also had one chance created and a perfect 100% success rate on his tackles.
