Erling Haaland was taken off at half-time during Man City’s win over Fulham
Manchester City appear to have dropped a massive update regarding Erling Haaland ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup tie against Salford.
The prolific striker has found the back of the net in each of Man City’s last two games - away at Liverpool and at home to Fulham - but did not complete the full 90 minutes in the latter as he was substituted at half-time.
Pep Guardiola confirmed afterwards that Haaland had picked up a knock in the first half, thus placing the Norway international’s involvement against Salford on Saturday in doubt.
Speaking in the pre-match press conference, Guardiola moved allay fears that Haaland’s issue is serious and said a decision would be taken on Friday as to whether his top scorer will feature at the Etihad Stadium.
“Erling’s not 100 per cent but we’ll see today how he feels,” said Guardiola.
“It’s not a big issue, the doctor said to me. But had some disturbance before and during the game and that’s why second half he didn’t play.
“We will see his evolution.“
However, Man City posted images from Friday’s training session and there was no sign of Haaland, while the likes of Marc Guehi, John Stones, Rodri and Antoine Semenyo were all spotted.
This may suggest that Haaland will be rested against Salford in order to keep him fresh for the Premier League clash at home to Newcastle next weekend.
