One Chelsea player has drawn special praise for his efforts against Hull City on Friday night.

Chelsea made easy work of Hull City on Friday night, winning 4-0 to advance to the next rouind of the FA Cup. Pedro Neto scored a hat-trick, and Estevao Willian scored the other to cap off a sweet night for Liam Rosenior upon his return to a club that harshly sacked him earlier in his career.

It was a positive evening all-round for the Blues, who showed no dent in their confidence following that two-goal collapse and draw against Leeds United last time out.

Neto was the onbvious stand-out, given his hsat-trick, but another player who impressed was centre-back Mamadou Sarr, who was recalled from his loan spell with Strasbourg after Chelsea failed to agree a deal for Jeremy Jacquet.

The Blues were willing to spend big on Jacquet, but Rennes would not do a winter deal, and they ended up striking a pre-summer deal with Liverpool.

Rosenior has spoke highly of Sarr having already worked with him at Strasbourg, and while it was against lesser opposition Friday night showed indications of why.

“Mamadou Sarr has done well,” BBC commentator and pundit Alan Shearer said on the commentary. “Everything he has been asked to do, he has done it well.”

That was something Rosenior echoed himself after the game, saying: “Mamadou was everything that I expect. I know Mamadou so well and I think his acclimatisation and adaptation process will, hopefully, be fast because he already understands how I want to play.”

Sarr scored a 7.67 with WhoScored and managed a remarkably 98.1% pass accuracy in the game. He also managed four clearances, won three aerial duels and blocked two shots.

Chelsea might be quietly confident of having saved big money by niot signing Jacquet while still strengthening their back line.
