Man City could sanction the sale of Jack Grealish to Everton for a significant cut price

Manchester City could push through a permanent sale of Jack Grealish this summer as it has been made clear he has ‘no long-term future’ at the club.

The winger had been enjoying his loan spell with Everton this season until a stress foot fracture cut things short. Grealish has undergone surgery on the issue and will not feature for the Toffees again this campaign.

Given the circumstances of his situation, Everton have been looking at extending Grealish’s loan spell but City would ‘prefer’ to sign off on a permanent sale.

Man City could sanction cut price sale of Jack Grealish

According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, City would rather sell Grealish permanently this summer than agree another loan deal, as his contract at the Etihad is due to expire in 2027.

In order avoid a second loan taking him to the end of his contract, City could be tempted into a cut price deal this summer.

“He’s obviously got no long-term future at Manchester City, I think that’s pretty certain. City will be open to all options to see Grealish move on whether that’s on a permanent or a loan,” O’Rourke said.

“There’ll be talks to be held between Everton and City probably to see if a deal can be agreed and I’m sure there’s other clubs who will be monitoring his situation at City as well.”

With just one year remaining on his terms, Everton are hopeful City will accept a reduced fee for Grealish. There is currently a £50 million purchase option in the winger’s deal but there is ‘an acceptance’ Everton were never likely to pay such a fee. Instead, City expect to receive ‘far less’ for the sale of the 30-year-old.

“Everton don’t really want to pay that and they would like to renegotiate that, maybe even a smaller fee, maybe around £20million,” O’Rourke continued.

Finance expert Stefan Borson also reported earlier this week that Man City could even accept £15 million to get Grealish off the books permanently this summer.
