U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s quick-witted roast of President Trump has gone viral following his ignorant comments about the Super Bowl halftime show.

Puerto Rican superstar and Grammy winner Bad Bunny captivated over 128 million viewers with his Super Bowl LX halftime show spectacle. Reaching over 4 billion views on social media within 24 hours, fans were in awe of the first solo headliner to perform almost entirely in Spanish. Donald Trump was not one of those fans.

Trump posted on Truth Social following the game, calling the halftime show “absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER!” He wrote that the performance “makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence.”

Trump then stated, “Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World,” and described the show as “just a slap in the face to our Country.”

Many were quick to mock the president’s ignorance in suggesting that nobody watching the performance could understand Spanish.

New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who is Puerto Rican herself, was asked by reporter Nicholas A. Ballasy what she thought of Trump’s comments over the weekend. “I barely know what Trump is saying half the time, so… I feel him,” she replied with a smile.

Social media users sounded off online in response to her savage remarks. One user wrote on X, “Fair point. Spanish is a recognized language with grammar and syntax. Trump's speeches are a "Word Salad" of non sequiturs and electric sharks. You can learn Spanish on Duolingo. You can't learn ‘Trump’ anywhere because it changes mid-sentence.”

“Half the country needs subtitles when Trump talks anyway,” another user joked.

Many agreed, “AOC’s clapback is iconic, serving truth with a side of humor.”

Later in the clip, Ballasy asked Ocasio-Cortez what she thought about the FCC getting involved to fine the network for not censoring certain language by Bad Bunny during the show. She replied swiftly, “I thought they didn’t understand what he was saying.” She joked that she’d “love to see their Duolingo scores.”

She then spoke candidly about her own reaction to the historic performance. “As a Puerto Rican, as an American, it just gives me so much pride to see what he did on a national stage.” She continued, “Not only that, but really telling a story of America and all the Americas.”

“He didn’t just play fantastic music, he talked about the history of sugarcane farming, the diaspora of Nuyoricans in New York City. How all of us can come together as a country. I think it was incredibly inspiring and fun and joyful.”

She closed by talking about her admiration for Bad Bunny, using his platform to speak out on important issues like the violent ICE crackdowns rampantly sweeping the nation. “I think a big part of what makes Bad Bunny so important is that he’s one of the few artists who has the courage to use his voice in this day and age.”
