Like London buses, Chelsea hat-tricks are coming in bunches. After not seeing one for over a calendar year, we’ve now had two in the space of a week. Pedro Neto’s last night might not be as [historic](/premier-league/166001/cole-palmer-sets-premier-league-and-chelsea-records-with-latest-hat-trick) as Cole Palmer’s was a couple game ago … though it’s probably pretty rare to have one of the goals come directly from a corner! I guess there are no statistics kept about that.
Neto does become the 81st player in Chelsea history to score at least three goals in a single game, which has happened 163 times now. It’s our first FA Cup hat-trick since Tammy Abraham’s against Luton Town five years ago.
Another interesting wrinkle to this one was that Neto played in the nominal No.10 role, rather than his usual spot on the wing. We might not see that too often, but it’s nice to have that option.
> “Neto brings us so many different qualities that you need. For me, he’s a world-class player. He’s a world-class winger and what I love about him, as talented as he is and as gifted as he is, which he showed today, what he sacrifices for the team at times is top. He’s going to be really, really important for us for where I think we can get to and what we can achieve for the rest of the season.”
