The Heat guard is preparing for his first All-Star Game this Sunday after receiving the call-up during his first season with the Florida-based franchise.

Powell's contract runs out this summer, and he is eligible for a four-year, $128.5 million extension.

If he doesn't reach a new deal with the Heat by June 30, he will become available as an unrestricted free agent to other teams.

Powell has made it clear that he would like to stay with Miami:

"This is definitely a place where I want to be," Powell told the Miami Herald.

"It’s been nothing but great. Coming here, getting adjusted. The organization has been amazing. I love where I’m at, I love the setup, I love the mentality, I love the approach."

"Hopefully, there’s some good synergy from what they’ve seen that I bring to the table," Powell continued.

"And hopefully a deal is able to be done sometime. But yeah, I see myself being here and being a part of the Heat organization for however long they’ll have me," he concluded.

Powell has played 44 games this season, boasting averages of 23 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 30 minutes per game.
