Manchester City remain keen on signing Brentford star Igor Thiago despite the striker signing a new long-term deal with the Bees in recent days.
Thiago has been in red-hot form this season, scoring 18 goals in 27 appearances. 17 of those goals have come in the Premier League and he was named the competition’s Player of the Month in November 2025.
Only Erling Haaland has more goals than the striker in the Premier League this campaign, with the hulking Norwegian netting 22 times in the league so far.
TEAMtalk reports that the player’s new deal has not ended the interest from Man City with Chelsea and Bayern Munich also interested. The Bees are said to believe that Thiago can become one of the best strikers in the world.
His new deal at Brentford will run until 2031 with the club retaining an option for another 12 months. It puts Brentford in a strong position if interest peaks in the summer.
The above report adds that every major club have been keeping tabs on the striker in recent months who continues to see his stock rise.
“It’s brilliant that Thiago has committed his long-term future to the club,” said head coach Keith Andrews.
“The connection that he has with his team-mates, the staff and the fans, as well as how much the club means to him and he means to us, is pretty evident for everybody to see.
“Again, it’s the person before the player. I love working with him and I’ve loved seeing his evolution as a player. How he plays is such a big part of how we play and what our season has been so far.
“He’s been a massive player for us, so it’s a contract he thoroughly deserves and I’m really happy that the club have been able to get it done.”
The deal puts Brentford in a strong position to keep Thiago but City have shown their capability to attract plenty of top talent and will likely prove an attractive proposition to Thiago.
