The Kansas City Chiefs confirmed five new additions to head coach Andy Reid’s staff for next season.

The 2025 NFL season ended less than one week ago when the Seattle Seahawks dominated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX, and most every team has already undergone massive change within the coaching ranks, including Seattle’s Klint Kubiak joining Tom Brady and the Las Vegas Raiders immediately after lifting the Lombardi Trophy.

That also includes the NFL’s greatest running dynasty in the Chiefs, who face a potentially bleak future as star quarterback Patrick Mahomes recovers from a torn ACL and Travis Kelce ponders his retirement decision this offseason.

Regardless of the status of his two star players, Reid must trudge forward and plan for next season after a plethora of coaches were either fired or hired by new teams at the end of the 2025.

Among Kansas City’s new coaching hires are running backs coach DeMarco Murray, wide receivers coach Chad O’Shea, assistant defensive line coach Terry Bradden Jr., offensive quality control coach Nate Pagan, and defensive quality control coach CJ Cox, the team announced on X.

The Chiefs’ social media post listing the five new hires did not include offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy, who has already been confirmed to return for this second stint with the franchise in place of Matt Nagy, who joined John Harbaugh's staff with the New York Giants upon the expiry of his contract.

Perhaps the most notable of the new hires is Murray, a name many NFL fans will recognize from his days as a prolific rusher for the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, and Tennessee Titans in the mid-2010s.

The 38-year-old, who led the NFL in rushing yards in 2014, will team up with Reid and company after spending six seasons as the running backs coach at his alma mater Oklahoma.

Another significant hire is O’Shea, who will be expected to play a key role in the development of young wide receivers like Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice.

He won three Super Bowls as a wide receivers coach for the Patriots between 2009 and 2018 and most recently spent six seasons in the same role with the Cleveland Browns.

More important than any new coaching hire, however, is the health of two-time NFL MVP Mahomes and retirement decision of Kelce.

Mahomes has stated he intends to be ready for Week 1 next season, but a long road to recovery still lies ahead after the three-time Super Bowl champion tore the ACL and LCL in his left knee on Dec. 14 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Kelce, meanwhile, has remained coy on his future, all while making appearances at pro-am golf tournaments and featuring on weekly ‘New Heights’ podcast episodes.

It is expected that the future Hall of Fame tight end will announce his retirement decision in the coming months as Kansas City’s coaching staff begins readying for the NFL Draft and other offseason programs.
