The Miami Heat rookie secured the title by defeating San Antonio Spurs forward Carter Bryant in the final round.
Johnson posted a 97.4 overall score in the finals. His opening dunk—a quick, through-the-legs reverse—received an almost perfect 49.6. He then added a long-range slam from just beyond the free-throw line, earning a 47.8.
Bryant first moved into the lead with the night’s only perfect 50, a between-the-legs windmill. However, he couldn’t complete his final attempt—a lob off the glass into a reverse—and had to settle for a simple 360 that scored just 43.0, giving Johnson the win.
Johnson joins Harold Miner (1993, 1995) and Derrick Jones Jr. (2020) as the only players in Miami Heat history to win the Dunk Contest.
LA Lakers' Jaxson Hayes and Jase Richardson of the Orlando Magic came up short in the first round.
