Report: How Marc Cucurella now feels about leaving Chelsea to sign for Barcelona

While the pull of his boyhood club remains a frequent topic of debate, Marc Cucurella appears to have reached a definitive conclusion about where his long-term loyalties lie.

Marc Cucurella has gone from one of the most inconsistent players at Chelsea when he first joined, to now one of the most reliable figures in the squad.

He now takes up a leadership role at Chelsea, showing just how far he’s come. However, the Blues have had to make do without Cucurella recently after suffering an injury.

It’s believed that the Spaniard will be out for around 3-4 weeks, which opens the door for Jorrel Hato to leave his mark at Stamford Bridge after being the understudy since Liam Rosenior took charge.

That’s not all that has been in the news recently, though, as there have also been links between Cucurella and Barcelona.

Marc Cucurella is perfectly happy at Chelsea

According to TeamTalk, Chelsea want to sit down with Marc Cucurella and open discussions over a new deal for the defender in the near future.

Meanwhile, the Spaniard isn’t considering a move to Barcelona and Chelsea wouldn’t entertain such a move, citing his importance at Stamford Bridge.

In fact, Cucurella is ‘extremely happy’ and open to a new deal himself.

Even Ian Wright has highlighted how Cucurella always seems to deliver a seven or eight out of 10 with his performances every single game.

Even the Hull City fans were booing Alejandro Garnacho 🤣

Jorrel Hato has an opportunity after Cucurella’s injury

With the Spaniard expected to be out for three to four weeks, the door has swung wide open for Jorrel Hato to stake his claim in the starting eleven.

The 19-year-old Dutch international has already shown glimpses of his immense potential, notably in the recent 4-0 FA Cup victory over Hull City, where Alan Shearer praised Hato.

Hato’s versatility is a significant asset for Rosenior; while he is a natural center-back, his composure and recovery speed make him a seamless fit for the inverted left-back role Cucurella has mastered.

With crucial fixtures against Arsenal and Aston Villa on the horizon, Hato now has the perfect platform to prove he is more than just a backup.
