'He is one of the best': Mohamed Salah says Liverpool's FA Cup hopes now depend on one man

Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai were among the goal scorers as Liverpool beat Brighton in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Fans were not happy with Cody Gakpo in the first half, but their anger quickly subsided when Milos Kerkez produced a brilliant assist for Curtis Jones to open the scoring.

Arne Slot’s men doubled their lead when Mohamed Salah set up Dominik Szoboszlai before the Egyptian killed the game off with a penalty to hand Liverpool a 3-0 win.

Who gets your vote for man of the match in an excellent win over Brighton, and why?

The Reds are now into the fifth round of the FA Cup and will learn their opponents on Monday, February 16.

Liverpool have not won the FA Cup since 2022, and if they are to do it this season, Salah thinks Szoboszlai will be key.

The Hungarian has been used in a variety of positions so far this season, including right-back, midfield and right-wing.

Against Brighton, he was played further forward with Curtis Jones instead starting as the out-of-position full-back.

Now, speaking live to TNT Sports post-match, the 33-year-old has labelled Szoboszlai Liverpool’s best player and spoke about how much they rely on him.

He said: “I think a cup run depends on his [Szoboszlai’s] performances. We rely on him so much. This season he is one of the best players in the world.

“It is great to win trophies. Hopefully we can go on.”

Is Mohamed Salah about to make his doubters look REALLY stupid?

Dominik Szoboszlai has dream of playing for Real Madrid

Szoboszlai has been called Liverpool’s best player by multiple sources this season, including Steven Gerrard and Micah Richards.

There has been talk about a new contract for the Hungarian and his potential wage demands.

However, his national team coach, Marco Rossi, has now come out and said this week that Szoboszlai dreams of playing for Real Madrid.

As per Marca, he said: “Because of the very close and direct relationship I have with Dominik Szoboszlai since he started playing football as a child, Real Madrid has always been his dream.

“I don’t know if he’ll be able to take that step, because the decision depends on him and also on his club.”

Losing Szoboszlai, who is under contract until 2028, would be such a big blow because, as Salah said, Liverpool rely on him so much.
