Former Liverpool and England Under-21 star Jordon Ibe has reportedly been arrested. It occurred last month when the 30-year-old arrived at Luton Airport, and he has since been released on bail.
Ibe was once tipped to be the next big thing in the Premier League, with many seeing him as a natural successor on the wing after Raheem Sterling left for Manchester City in 2015. Former Liverpool player John Aldridge once even said, "Raheem is obviously a hugely talented player, but Liverpool have a top replacement in Jordon Ibe. I’ve been watching Jordon play since he was 15. He’s a terrific player and has bags of potential."
Only 12 months after those comments, however, the England Under-21 star would actually leave for Bournemouth in a £15m move. Since then, his career has gradually declined. Ibe eventually joined current club, Lokomotiv Sofia in Bulgaria, in 2025.

According to The Sun, Ibe was charged with an alleged assault dating back to mid-December and subsequently quizzed by police. Although he has since been released on bail, he is due before Croydon magistrates’ court on 6 March.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said:
"Jordon Ibe has been charged with actual bodily harm. The charge relates to an assault alleged to have taken place on Sunday December 14, 2025.
"He was arrested at Luton Airport on Friday January 30 and taken into custody."
He had flown back from Bulgaria to go to court in a separate case. The winger admitted using dodgy prescriptions to get insomnia drug Zolpidem and was fined £230 at Highbury Corner magistrates court, North London. He was also told to pay £85 costs and a £72 victim surcharge.

Ibe's Journeyman Career and Mental Health Issues

Ibe played 92 times for Bournemouth but only managed to find the net five times, in what was a largely underwhelming spell on the south coast. The former England U21 international then signed for Derby County in the summer of 2020 on a free, but played just once for the club, before heading to Turkey in Adanaspor.
By the time he joined Bulgarian side Lokomotiv Sofia, they were the 13th club of his career, having spent just 17 days at previous non-league team Sittingbourne FC. He did make a few headlines in 2025, when he turned up for John Terry's team in the Baller League UK, making £400 per game.
He opened up on his mental health issues soon after, saying: "I've found myself in a dark place due to suffering from depression, It's no scheme for the media or to have my name in your mouths, I just find things hard, truly."
Despite being in Bulgaria since November, Ibe has yet to make his debut for Lokomotiv Sofia.
