NBA All-Star Game format, explained
-----------------------------------
The 2026 All-Star Game will consist of a round-robin tournament between three teams of eight players each: two American, plus one World team. Players from the Eastern and Western conference will be mixed among all three teams.
There are teams that have more total players than others due to injury replacements, but each squad will have eight players who will be eligible to play in the tournament.
In total, four games will be played, each lasting 12 minutes. The first game will be Team Stars vs. Team World; the winning team there will play Team Stripes in Game 2, followed by the losing team of Game 1 matching up against Team Stripes in Game 3.
After Game 3, the top two teams by record will advance to face each other in the championship game. If all three teams have a 1-1 record after Game 3, the tiebreaker will be point differential in each team’s two matchups.
