The 2025 season turned into a nightmare that Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs’ nation never saw coming. For the first time in his nine-year career as the Chiefs’ starter, the 30-year-old watched the playoffs from his house after Kansas City finished with a disappointing 6-11 record.
The franchise got eliminated in Week 15 with a 16–13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. For Mahomes, it became his second consecutive season under 4,000 yards without a Pro Bowl selection, as he finished his 2025 campaign with 3,587 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in 14 games.
Late in the loss to the Chargers, Mahomes scrambled right when Da’Shawn Hand rolled him up awkwardly, resulting in torn ACL and LCL ligaments. He spent Christmas recovering from surgery and is now continuing that recovery through Valentine’s Day.
Brittany Mahomes Reacts as Patrick Mahomes Keeps Romance Alive with Thoughtful Valentine’s Gift
While recovering from knee surgery, Patrick still made time to do something special for his family on Valentine’s Day. Brittany shared on Instagram Stories that he sent three separate bouquets, one for each of their daughters.

“3 sets of flowers for his three girls 🥺🤍 We love you!!!” Brittanywrote, tagging her husband. In the post, Sterling could be seen holding her bouquet in a light pink dress. Pat’s baby mama also attached two more images of bucket arrangements, one similar and another with yellow roses.
The romantic gesture continued a Valentine’s tradition dating back to high school. Mahomes first gave Brittany a rose on Valentine’s Day during his sophomore year at Whitehouse High School in 2012. Years later, in 2016, he gifted her their dog Steel for the holiday while she played college soccer.
Last Valentine’s Day looked different after the Chiefs finished as Super Bowl LIX runners-up. Patrick spent the day with his “homies,” while Brittany hung out with her best friend, Miranda Hogue.

This year, with the playoff collapse behind them and a long rehab ahead, Mahomes made sure his family felt the love.
To fix his torn ACL and LCL ligaments, he underwent surgery in Dallas urgently. Doctors reportedly prescribed him a nine-month recovery timeline. In that case, he is expected to target a Week 1 or 2 return in the new season.
