Remarkable Mo Salah stat emerges – Nine clear of Erling Haaland & Bukayo Saka

Mo Salah‘s strong showing against Brighton felt like his first good performance in a while, but he has quietly still been creating for Liverpool.

With Salah lacking form and scoring just one goal in his last eight games, Ferdi Kadioglu probably fancied his chances against Liverpool’s No. 11.

However, Salah rolled back the clock on Saturday night and left the 26-year-old Brighton full-back behind on multiple occasions.

FotMob tells us the Egyptian completed more dribbles (3) than anyone else on the pitch, also scoring once and creating the most chances of any player (4).

One of those chances created resulted in an excellent assist for Dominik Szoboszlai, as Liverpool’s right-winger beautifully cushioned a long ball from Cody Gakpo into the Hungarian’s path for Szoboszlai to rifle home first time.

The 33-year-old then won and converted a penalty with panache, meaning that since the start of last season, Salah has both scored and assisted in 15 different games for Liverpool across all competitions.

That is nine more times than the next-best Premier League players in this regard; Erling Haaland and Bukayo Saka have done it in six games during this period.

Against Brighton, Salah scored, provided an assist and won a penalty in a single game for just the third time in his Liverpool career – the other two occasions coming in December 2018, according to Opta.

In fact, since Salah left for AFCON in mid-December, only Bruno Fernandes has more assists for Premier League clubs in all competitions than Salah’s four.

That is despite him missing over a month due to AFCON in that time.

FotMob awarded Salah a rating of 9.1 on Saturday, the highest of the match, and Arne Slot was also full of praise for the winger.

The Dutchman said: “It’s very nice to have him on the scoresheet again and him having an assist, but I think what I like the most at the moment, that he is scoring goals is something you can almost expect, but he also helps the team a lot defensively and that is something very positive.”

Liverpool now have a week’s break until their trip to Nottingham Forest, so it should be plenty of time for Salah to rest and start his seventh consecutive game since returning from AFCON.
