Report: Chelsea and Liverpool set to battle it out for Brazilian ace as asking price is revealed

Chelsea have been named as a potential suitor for Juventus defender Gleison Bremer according to reports in Italy.

The Blues wanted to sign a new centre back in January, but failed to do so after Jeremy Jacquet opted to join Liverpool instead.

Chelsea ended up recalling Mamadou Sarr six months early from his loan spell with Strasbourg to provide another body in defence.

Centre back is once again expected to be a priority in the summer, and there could be significant movement in that department.

It’s likely both Tosin Adarabioyo and Benoit Badaishile will leave, whilst Trevoh Chalobah also faces an uncertain future.

Levi Colwill will be back from an ACL injury which is a boost, and Chelsea will no doubt be linked with a number of centre backs.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato both Chelsea and Liverpool have emerged as potential suitors for Bremer.

The report adds Juventus don’t want to sell the Brazilian, but if they were to receive an offer in excess of €70m their stance could change.

Bremer has scored three goals in 19 appearances this season, and is under contract with the Italian giants until 2029.

Whilst the Blues have been linked with Bremer, one defender they reportedly don’t want to lose is Josh Acheampong.

Chelsea reportedly turned down big money for Acheampong in January, and are said to really believe in the teenager.

Acheampong can play at both centre back and right back, and was promoted to Chelsea’s first team squad last season by Enzo Maresca.

The 19-year-old scored his first goal against Nottingham Forest earlier this season, and has made 21 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

Acheampong remains under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2029, which means it would likely to take a significant offer to persuade Chelsea to sell.
