Veteran assistant coach Joe DeCamillis is headed back to the National Football League, as the South Carolina associate head coach and special teams coordinator has reportedly been hired by the Las Vegas Raiders.
CBS Sports reported Sunday that DeCamillis will join new head coach Klint Kubiak’s staff in Las Vegas as the Raiders’ special teams coordinator. That move takes DeCamillis back to the NFL and to his seventh franchise in a career that began in 1991 with the Denver Broncos under father-in-law Dan Reeves.

DeCamillis was a special teams coach with the Broncos, Giants, Falcons and Jaguars from 1991-2008 when he moved up to become special teams coordinator with the Cowboys in 2009. Stints with the Bears, Rams and back to the Broncos and Jaguars came next before DeCamillis left the Rams following the 2022 season to serve as Steve Sarkisian’s special assistant at Texas in 2023.
DeCamillis served as associate head coach and special teams coordinator under Shane Beamer for the 2024 and 2025 seasons – during which time the Gamecocks went 13-12 overall and 6-10 in the SEC.
Nominated for the Broyles Award in his second season in Columbia, DeCamillis directed a special teams unit that featured Mason Love – who was the nation’s second-ranked freshman punter and earned Freshman All-SEC honors after averaging 45.1 yards per punt, the league’s third-best mark.
