Liam Delap says he’s happy to help the team in any way he can, after grabbing an assist in the win over Hull in the FA Cup.
Chelsea’s out of favour forward Liam Delap was one of the players selected to start on Friday who needed to impress, and despite a couple of bad moments he did end up with an assist and a lot of praise from his manager.
“I think we showed dominance in the first half, and we didn’t put our chances away. In the second half, we did. That was the difference,” the striker said after the game.
“We came here with one task, and that was to win. We showed we can battle and also play some good football, so we are happy.”

Delap has been in and out of the team all season, and a start against Hull only came because first choice forward Joao Pedro was being rested.
“There are always different reasons a team is selected – it’s rarely the same side. So we’re used to it, and it’s part of football, you’ve got to adapt to that, and the best teams show that no matter who is playing, you get the job done.”
All he can do is keep his head down and keep trying.

It wasn’t clear who score the second goal on Friday night – but at full time Pedro Neto revealed what Jorrel Hato said to him about it.
Hato is going to have to play while Marc Cucurella is out, and while there’s a lot of promise there, there are also flaws in his game we’re concerned about, as the stats from last night show.
