Riccardo Calafiori was ruled out of Arsenal's FA Cup clash with Wigan after sustaining a suspected injury in the warm up. The Italian was initially named in the starting XI to face the Latics, but the Gunners were forced into a late change with coming into the side.

A statement from the club read: "Saka has replaced Calafiori in the starting lineup and will now captain the side. Ceadach O'Neill has also been called up to the bench."

Calafiori's absence also forced a change of position for Myles Lewis Skelly, who had been set to play in midfield, but was instead moved to left back.

The Gunners came into the tie looking to continue their remarkable season which sees them in contention to win four major honours. They sit four points ahead of in the , in the Carabao Cup final against the same rivals and in the knockout stages of the .

But another spell on the sidelines for Calafiori would be another blow for , who is already set to be without Mikel Merino for the majority of the rest of the season.

The Spain midfielder underwent surgery earlier this month and is now targeting a return for the World Cup this summer. Kai Havertz is also out of action after suffering another injury in what has been a hugely frustrating season for the German.
