The Packers have been urged to re-sign Kingsley Enagbare in free agency this offseason
The Green Bay Packers have some work to do this offseason. After head coach Matt LaFleur revamped his coaching staff in the wake of defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley‘s departure, the Packers will be turning their attention to free agency and the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft.
While Green Bay has made it to the postseason in each of the past three years, it has just one win to show for. The front office will be hard at work in an attempt to find a way to increase the talent level of the roster, but the first step in accomplishing that goal involves keeping its own players in town. With that in mind, the Packers were recently urged to re-sign defensive end Kingsley Enagbare after he filled in for Micah Parsons late in the 2025 campaign.
Packers Urged to Re-Sign Kingsley Enagbare
Green Bay selected Enagbare in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and he’s served as a solid rotational piece along the team’s defensive line during his first four seasons in the league. Enagbare’s numbers never jump off the page, but he can wear a variety of different hats, with his versatility making him one of the defensive coaching staff’s favorite players.
In 2025, the Packers swung a blockbuster trade for Parsons right before the start of the season, but Enagbare still found a way to earn a fairly consistent diet of snaps. His final numbers aren’t wildly impressive (39 tackles and two sacks), but Enagbare was a reliable option Green Bay could turn to when guys like Parsons and Lukas Van Ness were dealing with injuries.
Now, Enagbare will have a shot to test the open market, where he could find a bigger role with a new team. However, the Packers are expected to show interest in re-signing him, and they were recently urged to do just that by Paul Bretl of the Wisconsin State Journal, as he cited Enagbare’s presence in the locker room and his ability to fill in at several different spots on defense.
“Re-signing Enagbare won’t be one of those splashy free agent moves that draws major attention or headlines, but a player of his caliber does elevate a position group and a roster,” Bretl wrote when explaining why he believes the Packers should re-sign Enagbare.

In a perfect world, the Packers would keep Enagbare around, but it remains to be seen if things will line up for him to stick in town. Green Bay has already invested quite a bit in its defensive line, especially in the wake of the trade for Parsons, so going out of its way to re-sign Enagbare may not be feasible for the front office.
Rumors were swirling at the trade deadline that Enagbare was drawing interest from several teams, so now that he’s up for grabs again, the Packers will likely face some stiff competition for his services. If the price is right, re-signing Enagbare makes sense, but it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see him latch on with a new team in hopes of a bigger role once he hits the open market.
