Chelsea are expected to undergo a major shake-up in the summer once again, in true Todd Boehly style. Especially, after Chelsea failed to spend in the January transfer window.
During the winter window, Chelsea failed to bring in a defender despite going after the likes of Jeremy Jacquet, Marcos Senesi and others. Only Yisa Alao was brought in, with the left-back added to the 21s.
This summer, expect that to change. Chelsea have already agreed deals that will see Geovany Quenda and Emmanuel Emegha link up with the first team come the summer, from Sporting Lisbon and Strasbourg.
If you could spend £50m on a centre-back, who are YOU choosing? 💵
Forest want £50m for Murillo.
Centre-back is likely to be a priority after missing out on Jacquet. But Chelsea will have to make room given the amount of options they have in the middle of Liam Rosenior’s defence, like Aaron Anselmino.
Chelsea make centre-back trio available ahead of summer
Levi Colwill, Trevoh Chalobah, Benoit Badiashile, Mamadou Sarr, Wesley Fofana, Jorrel Hato, Tosin Adarabioyo and Josh Acheampong are all options for Rosenior in defence, while Anselmino will return.

If Chelsea are to make a signing at centre-back, with Nottingham Forest’s Murillo a £50m target, then room will need to be made in defence. Well, TeamTalk say Chelsea are ahead of the game on that one.
Indeed, the Blues have made three players available for sale come the summer. It appears Chelsea are willing to listen to offers for Badiashile, Tosin, and Chalobah with the latter coming a surprise.
Which defenders have been linked with Chelsea?
Rosenior’s men have already been linked with numerous options in the middle of the defence. Other than Murillo, it is claimed that the London side are also looking at a deal for another Brazilian, Gleison Bremer.

Bournemouth’s Senesi remains out of contract at the end of the season, and the Argentina international is still a target for Chelsea, even if they face competition. Others are likely to be linked before the summer.
So, plenty of options are on the list for Chelsea but it might be a case of making room before Chelsea go big in the summer and splash the cash. A new goalkeeper and more midfield depth is also expected.
