Manchester City have been told that they can complete a deal to sign Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window.
Forest have a fourth new manager of the 2025/26 season after it was confirmed that Vitor Pereira had signed an 18-month deal to become their new boss on Sunday.
Pereira follows Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche as permanent managers of Forest in what has been a tumultuous season at the City Ground. The Portuguese will be tasked with getting the team out of trouble at the bottom of the table, with just three points separating them from the bottom three with just 12 games of the season to go.
Gibbs-White Was Involved In Major Transfer Drama In The Summer

If Pereira - who managed to turn Wolves' fortunes around last season before a difficult start to this season saw him sacked after only picking up two points from the opening 10 matches - can keep Forest in the Premier League, he will want players, like captain Gibbs-White, to call upon next year.
However, the 26-year-old has ambitions to play at a higher level, with a taste of the Europa League this season.
Gibbs-White almost joined Tottenham in the summer transfer window, but after a controversial transfer pursuit, during which Spurs appeared to place an offer at his release clause, only for Forest to shut down all communication and threaten legal action, he eventually signed a new deal to remain at the City Ground.
How Much It Will Cost To Sign Gibbs-White

After a disappointing season, Gibbs-White is likely to be a wanted man again this summer. Tottenham signed Xavi Simons in the end for their No.10 role, but there are suggestions the Lilywhites remain interested in signing Gibbs-White when the transfer window reopens.
Manchester City have also been credited with an interest, however, and reports from Football Insider suggest Forest would accept a bid in the region of £70million to let Gibbs-White leave.
Having tied him down to a new contract, which runs until 2028 now on improved terms, Forest hold all the cards in any negotiations over a transfer. The release clause last summer was understood to be at £60million, although that was taken out upon putting pen to paper on the new deal.
Pep Guardiola Loves Morgan Gibbs-White

Now Forest are likely to demand more, with £70million the likely asking price, with Football Insider reporting that an offer at that level would be accepted.
City's interest in Gibbs-White is not surprising, given Pep Guardiola's previous comments on the midfield man. Speaking last season, the City boss said: "The players up front create many things. Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Elanga are exceptional players."
Guardiola also hailed Ola Aina and Elliot Anderson in the Forest ranks as key players.
