Patriots and Raiders trade proposal sends Maxx Crosby to New England for star defender

The New England Patriots and Las Vegas Raiders could engage in a trade involving superstar edge rusher Maxx Crosby this offseason.

CBS Sports' Tyler Sullivan proposes a trade that would send Crosby to New England and defensive tackle Christian Barmore to Las Vegas.

The Raiders would also receive the No. 31 overall pick and the No. 63 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft in the hypothetical deal.

Crosby's future in Las Vegas has come into question in recent weeks.

FOX Sports' Jay Glazer kicked off the trade rumors by stating that Crosby is done with the Raiders and will be traded this offseason. Most of the drama between the two sides stems from Crosby's displeasure with Las Vegas over the handling of his knee injury at the end of the 2025 season.

Though Crosby has shot down the trade speculation, it's still not out of the question that the Raiders will trade him this offseason, and the Patriots would be a logical landing spot.

New England must upgrade its pass rush, as the team had no player with double-digit sacks, and just two defenders posted over seven sacks, Harold Landry III and K'Lavon Chaisson.

Crosby would transform the Patriots' defense into one of the top units in football. The 28-year-old has tallied double-digit sacks in three of the last four seasons and is one of the most relentless pass rushers in the sport.

Giving up Barmore and their top two picks in April's draft for Crosby would hurt New England, as the star defensive tackle started 16 games for the Patriots in 2025, and draft picks are what build a team into a Super Bowl contender.

However, Crosby is worth the price, so New England should make the move for the five-time Pro Bowler if the Raiders are willing to engage in discussions.
