UCLA is equipped with many new weapons on offense. One of those being a transfer from San Jose State in Leland Smith. With many believing this could be one of the more under the radar additions any team in the country made. Smith is a really good player and standing at 6β4, has the ability to stretch a defense and get a jump ball over mostly any defensive back. He had many highlighted plays at San Jose State last year, including an incredible grab that was ultimately ruled incomplete. But was the subject of a controversy versus Texas. As many did not believe it was the correct call and should've been ruled a catch.
You canβt stop watching, you wonβt see a better catch this season!!

The Bruins are the perfect fit for Smith. As he now gets his second chance at a power four school. This time equipped with more experience of being a lead receiver. Along with Landon Ellis, Smith figures to slot in as the starting outside receiver. With Aidan Mizell also in play as well as Mikey Matthews and Semaj Morgan work more on the inside. We expect a big season out of Smith as UCLA will give Nico Iamaleava more time in the pocket to run his reads this season.
Leland Smith has NFL talent UCLA will look to unlock it
Smith has the ability to become on NFL type player. There are many things that you can teach with techniques and route running. You cannot teach natural speed and being 6β4. Traits that Smith has and uses to his advantage. There was a reason he was so coveted during the portal season. ultimately landing at UCLA and providing Bob Chesney with a good offensive piece. Dean Kennedy will scheme up plays well for him and UCLA will be back to having a 1,000-yard receiver again after a few years break.
