Man Utd Plot Move To Sign Argentinian International On Free Transfer

Man Utd are among the clubs keen on recruiting Bournemouth centre-back Marcos Senesi, according to reports in the Italian media.

TuttoJuve.com have named the Red Devils, along with Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona, Chelsea, Tottenham, Everton, Crystal Palace and Brighton as potential suitors for the Argentinian international.

Senesi is out of contract at the end of the season, and he will be available on a free transfer, but foreign clubs do have an advantage over Premier League teams.

They can tie down the player to a pre-contract agreement now, while Man Utd would have to wait until June to make a formal proposal.

Senesi is set to hold talks with a rival club

It is believed that Juventus are the ones who are pushing the hardest to secure the 28-year-old’s services.

Discussions between the Serie A giants and the player reportedly took place at the weekend and they are expected to continue into this week.

Of course, if Senesi does want to stay in England, he can always sit on his hands and wait until the summer to hold discussions with United and any other Premier League side, but it appears he could be open to joining Juve.

Man Utd have been linked with several centre-halves

Senesi is not the only defender on the club’s radar. Scouts are said to have watched Juventus’s Pierre Kalulu recently, while Spurs’s Micky van de Ven has been mentioned as another potential target over the past few weeks.

A lot may still hinge on the future of Harry Maguire. Like Senesi, the 32-year-old’s contract is set to expire soon, but if he does end up signing an extension and staying at Old Trafford, there will be less urgency to recruit a new centre-back.
