It wasn’t the happiest of weekends for Liverpool’s loan players, with Harvey Elliott‘s struggles at Aston Villa continuing.
Elliott‘s spell at Villa Park has been a huge disappointment, with the 22-year-old starting just one Premier League game this season.
The boyhood Liverpool fan may have hoped to feature in Villa’s visit of Newcastle in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday, but that proved to be wishful thinking.
Instead, Elliott was left out of the matchday squad entirely by Unai Emery and was powerless to prevent them from losing 3-1 at home to the Magpies.
At this point, he must be desperate for the summer to arrive!
Hull City’s Lewis Koumas celebrates (Martin Rickett/PA)
Meanwhile, Lewis Koumas suffered a sobering evening for Hull, with the Championship outfit beaten 4-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Welshman led the line for the entire 90 minutes in west London, managing two shots, but he could do nothing about his side falling to a resounding loss.
It was a positive weekend for Luca Stephenson, though, with the midfielder helping Dundee United win 3-2 away to Falkirk in the Scottish Premiership.
Vitezslav Jaros was triumphant, too, conceding once but winning 4-1 for Ajax at home to Fortuna Sittard in the Eredivisie.
