AC Milan’s interest in signing FC Barcelona defender Gerard Martin in the summer window has been confirmed by Matteo Moretto.
Late last week, it emerged that Milan have a new name on their radar as they explore various options to reinforce the defence. Reports in Spain suggested that Martin is a concrete target for the Rossoneri, so much so that a bid of around €25m is ready.
Moretto confirms Martin interest
According to what Matteo Moretto has reported on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, Milan are plotting another operation that is a bit different to the one involving Victor Valdepeñas, who is currently playing for the Real Madrid Castilla squad and is also a target.
Gerard Martin has already gained experience with the Barcelona first team and is considered a more ready profile. A natural left-back, he can also be deployed as a central defender in a three-man defence or in emergency situations, a characteristic that increases his appeal.

Premier League clubs such as Wolverhampton Wanderers had already made concrete moves in the recently concluded winter transfer window, but both the player and the Catalan club had chosen not to open up to a sale during the season.
The discussion, therefore, has been postponed until the summer. Barcelona, as is well known, will rely on some outgoing deals to finance new signings, and this could open a window of opportunity. Milan are evaluating costs, room for growth and the tactical fit ahead of next season.
