Arsenal booked their tickets for the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday evening, cruising to a comfortable 4-0 victory over a managerless Wigan Athletic.
It was the dream start for the Gunners, as Eberechi Eze slipped Noni Madueke through on goal, the Englishman placing his shot past Sam Tickle into the bottom left corner.
Less than ten minutes later, Arsenal doubled their advantage as Gabriel Martinelli struck a precise effort into the bottom right corner.
Wigan's woes continued as two very quickly became three for the Gunners. A brilliant piece of play between Madueke and Bukayo Saka allowed the latter to fizz a dangerous ball into the box. Jack Hunt could not sort his feet out and put the ball in his own net.
Four minutes later, Gabriel Jesus got involved in the action, lifting an effort over Tickle to get Arsenal's fourth and seal a superb first-half performance; the Gunners had the game won before half-time.
Kepa Arrizabalaga - 6.5
A very quiet afternoon, as expected for Arsenal's cup keeper. The Spaniard was ready when called into action, denying Taylor's effort and preserving his side's clean sheet
Ben White - 6
White showed plenty of energy, darting up and down the pitch. He certainly was not the most effective and would have wanted to have more of an influence than he did.
William Saliba - 7
A routine performance for the Frenchman, who won all of his duels and gave Taylor a very hard time. Was brought off on the hour mark with the game won.
Cristhian Mosquera - 7
Dominant at the back, as you would expect from a defender of his quality. Put a high standard of passing on display and came very close to adding his name to the scoresheet.
Myles Lewis-Skelly - 6
The Englishman would have preferred to be in the midfield, but the pre-match injury to Riccardo Calafiori denied him that opportunity. Not a bad performance, but his recovery runs lacked energy at times.
Christian Norgaard - 8.5
It was a strong performance from the Dane, who really showed his quality in the centre of the pitch. He won the most duels of any player over the 90 minutes and played some excellent long balls forward.
Eberechi Eze - 8
Eze needed to prove a point on the night, and he did exactly that, grabbing two assists and exposing Wigan's lack of pressing. Was relentlesly hunting for a goal of his own, but it just was not his day in that department.
Bukayo Saka - 7
The Englishman was brought into the lineup as a late replacement. Operating in a central role behind the striker, Saka linked up nicely with Eze and Madueke. With the job done, he was replaced at the break.
Noni Madueke - 8
A brilliant display from the winger; Wigan simply could not contain him. His finish to open the scoring was calmly done, and he linked up beautifully with Saka down the right.
Gabriel Jesus - 7
What a smart finish it was from the Brazilian to add a fourth to Arsenal's tally. Operated deeper in the second half once Viktor Gyökeres was introduced to the game.
Gabriel Martinelli - 8
The winger just loves a cup competition. Much like Madueke, Wigan simply had no response when he broke forward. A great finish to get his name on the scoresheet.
Substitutes:
Viktor Gyokeres (46') - 5.5
The Swede was unlucky not to leave his mark on the game, striking the post from a tight angle. Only managed seven touches.
Marli Salmon (61') - 6
Looked solid in possession in his home debut for the Gunners. Operated in two different positions across the backline and looked comfortable in both.
Leandro Trossard (61') - 6
A nice cameo from the Belgian, whose deliveries were asking some questions of his opposition.
Martin Zubimendi (79') - N/A
Featured for the last ten minutes. Not enough time to judge his performance
Tommy Setford (87') - N/A
The 19-year-old was brought on for Kepa in the final minutes of the game.
