A former [Philadelphia Eagles](https://www.pennlive.com/philadelphiaeagles/) defender is hanging up his cleats.
Ex-Eagles linebacker Shaun Bradley is retiring. Bradley, the New Jersey native and former Temple standout, announced the news on social media over the weekend.
“Dear Football, I dont even know where to start,” Bradley wrote. “Thank you for giving me everything I could ever imagine and more.”
Bradley, after starring at Temple, was selected by the Eagles with the No. 196 overall pick in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL draft.
Bradley spent four years with the Eagles, appearing in 45 games and recording 45 tackles. Bradley also spent time on practice squads for the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs.
But injuries played a major factor in Bradley’s career. He suffered a season-ending wrist injury in 2022, missing the Eagles’ run to Super Bowl LVII. He suffered a torn Achilles in the 2023 preseason. And he dealt with a neck injury with the Chiefs ahead of this past season.
“Unfortunately in September 2025 I was told my neck injury was getting worse and I was playing with borrowed time so I decided to shut it down,” Bradley wrote. “... It wasnt until recently I finally found some peace and closure.”
Still, Bradley was fortunate for the career he had — and thanked the Eagles on the way out.
“Thank you to the Philadelphia Eagles for taking a chance on me, Howie (Roseman) and Mr. (Jeffrey) Lurie. I am forever grateful to you two. You gave me the dream of a lifetime,” Bradley wrote.
”To all my teammates, my coaches, my family, my fans, and my friends, thank you. ... You made it all worth it."
“And it’s always GO BIRDS.”
