The Cleveland Browns have a decision to make at outside corner. Both Denzel Ward and Tyson Campbell are locked in as starters, but they don't currently have a good option under contract behind them.
One option is to simply re-sign Martin Emerson Jr., as he works to return from a ruptured Achilles' suffered in training camp this past season. The Browns have liked Emerson and believe he was poised to have a strong season before the injury.
Emerson could see if he has a better offer on the open market, but teams may be hesitant to offer much until he can prove he's back from the injury. That might cause Emerson to want to take a one-year deal, prove he's fully healthy, be productive and re-enter free agency next year. That might be the reason that Emerson and the Browns could work out a deal, giving them excellent depth for when Ward likely misses time at some point.
If either Emerson or the Browns aren't interested in this arrangement, the Browns will either need to look to free agency or the draft. Of those two, the draft is the more likely path as a means to limit the expenditure being paid to that position relative to their overall spending.
There's one potential day three option that has a number of characteristics that typically appeal to the Browns.
