The Seattle Seahawks face a decision Uchenna Nwosu's future.
Life comes at you fast in the NFL, and rumors are swirling about potential moves the Seattle Seahawks may make this offseason, which includes several difficult decisions despite being Super Bowl champs. One of the team’s Super Bowl standouts could be in danger of being moved as a result of a hefty contract.
Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine outlined each team’s top trade assets. Seattle has no shortage of assets after securing the franchise’s second championship but given the team’s depth of pass rushers, Uchenna Nwosu is a name to watch this offseason.
Fans remember Nwosu for his pick-six against the New England Patriots to seal a Super Bowl win for Seattle. The challenge is Nwosu’s three-year, $45 million contract, and Seattle has an out in the pass rusher’s deal that would save the franchise more than $12 million in cap space by releasing the defender.
If the Seahawks move on from Nwosu, the team would likely prefer to trade the pass rusher and receive something in return.
Let’s dive into the latest Seahawks rumors.
Seahawks Rumors: Seattle Could Look to Trade Super Bowl Star Uchenna Nwosu
With no shortage of cap space, Seattle could also opt to keep Nwosu as his deal expires after the 2026 season. There is also a case to be made to “sell high” on Nwosu given his strong Super Bowl performance.
“They’ll roll into the offseason with one of the largest cap spaces and a nearly complete team,” Ballentine wrote in a February 11, 2026, story titled, “Every NFL Team’s Top Trade Assets in 2026 Offseason.” “That said, there are a few contracts they could trade, and they might be in an even better position.
“Uchenna Nwosu has become a player who might be more valuable to another team. The interior duo of Byron Murphy and Leonard Williams will force teams to match up with edge-rushers one-on-one. Nwosu tied for the team lead in sacks with 7.0, but trading him ahead of his age-30 season would clear up $11.5 million in cap space.”
Seahawks Pass Rusher Uchenna Nwosu Missed a Combined 22 Games in the 2 Seasons Prior to 2025
Nwosu has had a rocky tenure in the Pacific Northwest with injuries defining his time in Seattle. Prior to 2025, Nwosu missed a combined 22 games over the past two seasons.
In some ways, it would be a shame for the Seahawks to cut ties with Nwosu after one of his most productive seasons with the team. Nwosu posted 35 tackles, 15 quarterback hits, seven sacks and three pass deflections during 16 appearances in 2025, including 11 starts.
Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald on GM John Schneider: ‘He’s Got a Very Clear Vision’
After a brief lull during the final years of Pete Carroll’s tenure, general manager John Schneider appears to be back in his wheelhouse. With decisions on Nwosu and other key players coming this offseason, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald outlined why Schneider is one of the best in the business.
“Don’t be fooled by his aw-shucks personality, he’s as sharp as they come,” Macdonald said of Schneider, per Seahawks.com’s John Boyle. “He seems like he’s young because of his energy and his enthusiasm, but he’s seen a lot of football, he’s seen a lot of great organizations operate.
“He’s got a very clear vision of what he wants to achieve.”
