Liverpool are believed to be “in talks” over the signing of Aston Villa and England star Morgan Rogers in the summer transfer window.
The Reds could eye further midfield reinforcements at the end of the season, despite the brilliance of Dominik Szoboszlai this season and the growing influence of Florian Wirtz.
One player who has been mentioned as an option for Liverpool is Rogers, who has arguably been Villa’s best player in 2025/26, staking a strong claim to start for England at the 2026 World Cup.
According to a leading transfer insider on X [via Caught Offside], the Reds are in discussions with the 23-year-old over a move to Anfield in the summer window:
“Liverpool have held talks with Morgan Rogers’ representatives and the door wasn’t shut on them. The player is open to all proposals in the summer.”
Is Morgan Rogers a perfect summer option for Liverpool?
Rogers is an exceptional young player who feels like a strong fit for Liverpool, possessing a combination of technical quality and physical prowess in his attacking midfield role.
At this point, he is possibly even ahead of Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer and Phil Foden to start for England in the No.10 role at the World Cup, with Roy Keane hailing him in the past, even comparing him to England legend Paul Gascoigne:
“You know who he reminds me of when he gets in a tight space and gets away, Gazza (Paul Gascoigne). He reminds me of Gazza, he has just got that in him where he can do those things. What it does do is give the manager a brilliant option and a problem. When you get the opportunity and perform like that, your message to the manager is that it is hard to leave you out.”
Rogers clearly isn’t going to be available on the cheap, with Villa understandably desperate to keep hold of one of the first names on the team sheet, but his head could be turned by a move to Liverpool.
It would be such an exciting piece of business by the Reds, adding another extra dimension to their midfield, as well as having an extra option out on the left wing, even though Rogers doesn’t play there often.
